Florida- The Bakersfield, California wrestling show promoted by Craig Valentine ended Sunday night with the cops raiding the nearby Howard Johnson Motor Lodge on the presumption that there was a raucous porn party going on.
There wasn’t. But Valentine took the brunt of it by being kicked out of the hotel and was told that porn stars and wrestlers are banned from staying there in the future.
Howard Johnson’s is owned by Windham Resorts, but Valentine, who does business with Windham, wasn’t about to let it rest, no siree. Steve Seidman lobbed a call to Windham and Valentine got a return call from Howard Johnson’s customer service.
“They told me they don’t care to get involved in the matter,” relates Valentine.
“They said there’s conflicting stories between our version and the hotel’s version. Isn’t there supposed to be conflicting versions? Ultimately when I spoke to the Bakersfield police, as stated the problem was in Room “167”. Again, not a room I rented or had anything to do with. Those people rented a room on their own.
“The hotel says they don’t care, it’s guilt by association. The customer service lady said they don’t like people in the adult business. Howard Johnson’s does not like people in the adult entertainment industry. They made that clear to me on the phone. Howard Johnson’s are independently owned and they choose to do business with people they want to do business with. And they don’t care to do business with people like me and what I do for a living.”
Valentine recalls another incident when he first checked into the Howard Johnson’s. A front desk girl named Jessica inappropriately asked Valentine’s girlfriend if she was okay with him being in porn.
“My girl is, like, I do it too. I’m a sex therapist. What’s the problem?” relates Valentine.
